Meet the minds behind The Heroes Compendium!

Timm

Co-Founder/Head Creator/Dungeon Master

Timm began his Dungeons & Dragons journey two decades ago in the Forgotten Realms, following the adventures of Drizzt Do’Urden and the Companions of the Hall. After consuming every piece of fantasy which crossed his path, he turned to creating content of his own. He has spent the last decade honing his creative talents as a player, dungeon master, and writer.

With the support of his loving wife, Lyndsey, and the companionship of his fellow co-founder, George, he began The Heroes Compendium to share his growing catalogue of 5e homebrew with all those who would join him on the adventure. Timm’s mind is never idle, always designing a subclass, theorycrafting a spell, outlining the next short story, or pestering George with ideas for any of the above.

Timm has experience in tabletop games of all genres, such as Adventures in Middle Earth, Star Wars Edge of the Empire, Blades in the Dark, and Cthulhu. Aided by over 20 players across three D&D groups (a combined eight campaigns) he has overseen the playtesting for the majority of subclasses, spells, species, and all other content you can find on The Heroes Compendium.

George

Co-Founder/Head Editor/Dungeon Master

George was first introduced to the world of Dungeons & Dragons by RA Salvatore’s The Two Swords that he found hidden in a local bookstore. With an appetite for reading that borders on the concerning, George has spent his life devouring as much literature as he can stomach, and then some. At the start of 2020, George began playing in his first consistent D&D campaign ever, courtesy of his dear friend and co-founder, Timm. George now runs a handful of his own games, and plays in one of Timm’s. He couldn’t be happier to be steeped in this world again.

George’s work at the Heroes Compendium focuses on the editorial sphere. This includes grammar and spelling, but also the larger themes and continuity of the material we write. His favorite questions during Compendium meetings often start, “why?” Why would this magic work that way? Why would this species have this trait? George loves taking free-standing ideas and concepts and folding them into the weave of our existing canon, being careful with the integrity of both the new thread and the bundle that we are adding it to.

George has experience with Dungeons & Dragons and Blades in the Dark. The writers who have had the most influence on his writing include China Miéville, NK Jemisin, Cixin Liu, Terry Pratchett, Carmen Maria Machado, Kate Griffin, P. Djeli Clark, Clive Barker, Eoin Colfer, Brandon Sanderson, Timm, and countless others.

Lyndsey

Social Media Manager/Playtester/Editor

Though not an official member of The Heroes Compendium since it’s inception, Lyndsey’s year-long campaign of encouragement is what initially gave Timm the courage to start it. He repaid the favor with a year-long campaign of convincing her to join the team as its Social Media Manager, and she accepted! Her brilliant mind is evident not only in our immediately enhanced social media presence, including the extraordinary debut of the Witch class, but also the many plans and offerings you will see over the next few months.

Lyndsey has spent the last three years as a player in almost all of Timm’s games, creating dynamic characters whose legendary exploits are still spoken of around the campfire. She also acts as an unofficial editor for content, always being the first to read Timm’s initial story drafts and support his ideas in their infancy. Most of all, however, Lyndsey’s serves as the heart of the team, and her desire to create a community amongst The Heroes Compendium chroniclers and artists is nothing short of inspiring.

Her fondness for fantasy - outside of Timm’s stories of course - is most evident in Terry Pratchett’s Discworld series, with a special love for the Tiffany Aching and The Watch books. When Lyndsey isn’t giving all of her time to The Heroes Compendium, she loves to embroider, crochet, and paint miniatures (many of which you may be seeing soon!)

Mike

Composer/Playtester/Quatroizer

There isn’t a moment when Mike isn’t tapping his pen against the tabletop or humming a tune to himself, always composing the next track or album for either The Heroes Compendium or his personal project, Quatroizer. When Timm and George are trading ideas for the next setting, adventure, or story, Mike is already halfway through building the tonal theme which will define the resulting creation. He has explored horror, space, wilderness and more, and is never afraid to take on a new motif or melody.

Mike is also the most prominent playtester for The Heroes Compendium, playing in all of Timm’s campaigns. His characters range from the rift runner rogue, Zumastra, to the passenger warlock, Craig, or the time cleric, Physee. His ability to lean into a character’s motivations, even to their own detriment, is legendary and never fails to give Timm a challenge or a laugh.

His exposure to fantasy, and love of music, lies heavily in the medium of video games and their soundtracks. His favorite games are Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, Control, and Shadowrun Returns and his favorite game soundtracks are FTL: Faster than Light, Celeste, Bastion, and Hollow Knight. When he is not composing music for The Heroes Compendium, his attention is turned towards Quatroizer, where he produces ambient electronic music for listeners of all varieties.
